A5 KILSBY TO WEEDON Multi-Disciplinary Project - Update Bulletin 18 – 28.11.2019
We are currently carrying out drainage works in Phase 7, from B5385 Watford to A361 at Kilsby roundabout.
Between 8pm Friday 29th November and 6am Monday 2nd December, we are planning to carry out resurfacing in Phase 6, from B4036 Long Buckby to B5385 Watford, heading northwards from a point approximately 300 metres north of the bridge over The Grand Union Canal to a point approximately 200 metres north of the entrance to Welton Hythe Marina.
Although there will be a closure point on the A5 at the B4036 Long Buckby crossroads, unescorted access will be allowed to Old Watling Street, The New Inn, the Grand Union canal car park and Ryehill Farm. We would ask that you please take care when entering and leaving these locations unescorted.
Please note that the B4036 Long Buckby crossroads WILL be open during these resurfacing works.
Access for purple permit holders in Phase 6, to and from all other properties north of Ryehill Farm, during these resurfacing works will be from the B5385 Watford junction.
Between Monday 2nd December and Sunday 8th December 2019, we are planning to carry out planting and hydroseeding of verges together with installation of bird and bat boxes in Phases 2 to 7 inclusive. These particular works, which are being carried out between 8pm and 6am each night, are planned as follows:
Monday 2nd December – Phase 6, from B4036 Long Buckby to B5385 Watford. Tuesday 3rd December – Phase 7, from B5385 Watford to A361 Kilsby roundabout. Wednesday 4th and Thursday 5th December – Phases 5 and 4, from Heart of The Shires Shopping Village to B4036 Long Buckby.
Please note that vehicles WILL NOT be able to cross the A5 at the Daventry Road (Norton) and Whilton crossroads on either of these nights. Friday 6th December – Phase 3, from A45 Flore roundabout to Heart of The Shires Shopping Village. Saturday 7th December – Phase 2, from Weedon Bec crossroads to A45 Flore roundabout.
Following these works, we are then planning to return to Phase 7, from B5385 Watford to A361 Kilsby roundabout, at 8pm on Monday 9th December 2019 to carry out drainage works. These works will continue each weeknight from then until 6am Friday 20th December 2019.
Please note that all our planned road works may be subject to change due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances.
Local businesses will be open as usual during these essential works so, please use your local shops, farm shops, markets, shopping villages, garden centres, bars and restaurants and ask others to do the same. Please note that access to all of these is available from the designated diversion routes. I’m sure that your local business community would appreciate it.
I apologise for any disruption our works may cause. Please plan ahead and allow extra time for your journey.
Unfortunately, there have been incidences of unauthorised vehicles being driven into our working areas. These irresponsible drivers put themselves and our workforce at risk of serious injury or death. As a result of these incursions we have employed a Safety Camera vehicle which will record any such incidences and report the offender to the Police
