Long Buckby Parish Council - CCTV Upgrade Project

This is to notify you that the Parish Council will shortly be renewing the two CCTV cameras situated in the Market Square. The replacement cameras will be the latest CCTV technology, providing the vastly improved images needed for current law enforcement purposes. They will also be situated more centrally in the Square to minimise the obstruction caused by the nearby trees.

The location of the cameras and their area of coverage is shown on the diagram avaiable to view here

It should be noted that in planning these revisions the Parish Council has ensured that the service is completely compliant with the latest regulations covering the security and protection of personal data, fully conforming the Surveillance Camera Commissioner’s Code of Conduct, the GDPR and the Data Protection Act.

In practice this means that live images can only be viewed by staff in the Service Provider’s Central Control Room (all staff are fully trained and certified in the correct handling of such personal data) and the Police Central Control Room at Wooton Hall. Access to any recorded images will be available to the police alone, and that, only with the requisite internal authorisation. Historical data will be destroyed after an agreed period.

With ever more limited Police resources and increasing crime rates, especially violent crime, the Parish Council believes this evolution is necessary to maintain and acceptable level of law & order in the centre of our community.

Should you have any comments or questions about this project please send them, by email or post, to the Parish Clerk, to arrive no later than 08/03/2019
